Principal’s Message

Welcome!

St Martha’s Catholic Primary School Strathfield is a dynamic, nurturing learning community founded in 1925, by the Dominican Sisters. A diverse curriculum encourages our students to explore their gifts and talents and to use them to better serve our God. This is the message Jesus gives to Martha in the Gospels, which underpins our school motto ‘Strive, achieve, serve’.

Parents, teachers and the parish community work in partnership to support the academic, social and spiritual development of our students, and we target teaching and learning programs to students to ensure they reach their individual potential. This has resulted in our students achieving consistently well in external examinations.

Strong programs are in place to assist students requiring extra support, and we focus on a differentiated curriculum that allows all students, including those with particular gifts and talents, to maximise their learning. Consistent learning growth has seen our school recognised on the NAPLAN honour roll.

My goal is for all students to serve the community and make a difference in our world, following the example of St Martha.

Thank you for visiting our school website. Please continue to browse and explore all our wonderful school has to offer.

History
St Martha’s Catholic Primary School Strathfield was established by the Dominican Sisters in 1925 in the old church building, which is now the library and the senior classrooms. In 1992 the Dominican Sisters ended their leadership of the school, with the first lay principal having been appointed. Since then St Martha’s has maintained a link with the Sisters through their charism. The school continues the Dominican philosophy of valuing a holistic approach to lifelong learning which educates children to interpret their life with meaning and equip them for the 21st century.

Charism
Inspired by the example and spirit of St Martha – Faith, Hospitality and Service – and the charism of St Dominic, students aspire to live out our motto, ‘Strive, Achieve, Serve’ in their daily life. They strive to do their best, achieve to their full potential and serve God in all they do.

On special feast days or celebrations, the children attend Mass as a whole school, as well as participating in grade Masses throughout the term. Students are actively involved in these Masses through reading, singing, listening and creating artwork.
